The idea of starting a college is this rural area cherished in the mind of many educated and well established persons for a long time, it was given a definite shape during the year 1992-1993 when late Maguni Charan Sahoo, a social worker of this locality with cooperation of the then young and energetic M.L.A Sj. Pradeep Kumar Maharathy started the college. The other persons who extended their cooperative hand to this Nobel work were Sri Satyavadi Swain, the then Block Chairman, Late Narsingha Prusti, Retd. Reader of our locality, Late Bichtrananda Sinha, Professor of Geography Utkal University, Sri. Ananta Kumar Sahoo and many others including the natives of Village Benupada. The college is named as 'Gadibrahma College' in the name of the presiding deity of the nearby village Mahapravu Gadibrahma. From the very inception the college functioned exclusively as a degree college separated from +2 wing. After getting opening permission for two compulsory subjects English and Mil (Odia) and four optional subjects like History, Economics, Political Science and Education with 64 seats in each. The number of seats increased from 64 to 128 during academic year 1996-1997. The honours classes in Educations with sixteen seats opened. During the session 2007-2008 and in History the honours of same number of seated opened 2011-2012. During the year 2015-16 the seats in pass subjects increased from 128 to 160 and in the same year through ministry court it was converted to 192 seats. In 2016-17 we opened honours in rest of the subjects- Odia, Economic and Political Science with sixteen in each and increased honours seats in education and history from 16 to 32 seats. In the year 2017-18 honours seats in Education, Political Science and odia increased to 48 seats each and economics and history remain 16 and 32 respectively.
